Haflinger History
The Haflinger Breed originates in the south
of Tyrol of Austria and takes its name from the town of Hafling,
near Merano in Italy. The horses have been exported to 27 nations
throughout the world. Their stamina combined with their superbly
calm temperament make them an ideal all-rounder, used for Dressage,
Riding, Jumping and they peform extremely well in all types of harness
work.
First imported into Australia by Dalgetys in 1974, Eve Paxton-Brown
was the first private breeder in this country. There are approximately
over 200 Haflinger Horses at present in Australia.
